You will need to have a connection to the Internet to complete this Project. Since each person reading this book, most likely uses a different Internet Service Provider, and has a different configuration for connecting to the Internet: Ask your parents for help connecting to the Internet. (For this sample lesson, you are obviously already connected to the Internet.) Connect to the Internet and open your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) In your Internet Browser, type: www.guidetogeekdom.com/picture For this sample lesson, click on the Link and the page will open in a new window for you to use. This will open up the web site for Guide to GeekdomÔ. You will find a picture a birthday cake that you can use for this lesson. (You need to make sure that you type in /picture after the web address, this will take to you the page with the birthday cake.) Move your mouse over the picture. RIGHT Click on the picture It is natural to LEFT Click with your mouse – which is what you mainly use. However, when you use your RIGHT mouse button to click on items, many times it will bring up a menu box. When RIGHT clicking on a graphic on a web site, you will get the following menu box: Select "Set as Wallpaper" Now look at your desktop – the picture you just saved as wallpaper, should be on your desktop Open the Display Properties menu box If you need a reminder, refer back to Project #1: Changing Background Wallpaper. From Project #1: Click on the Start button (in the lower left hand corner of the screen) Select Settings Select Control Panel Select Display and open (double click with the mouse to open) Your Display Properties menu will look like this now: Change the Display type from "Tile" or "Center" to "Stretch" Decide if this is the best selection for the picture you have saved. If not, change the display type that looks best. Select OK. Now look at the Desktop on your computer. You will see the picture of the birthday cake in the background. CONGRATULATIONS!
