 The author of Guide to Geekdom™, Pamela Bates, began writing these lessons after searching for a computer curriculum that her sister could use in homeschooling. You can find numerous reference manuals written on every computer topic imaginable. These books are great reference materials, but are extremely overwhelming if you don't know the basics or where to start. After weeks of searching and finding nothing, she sat down and began to write projects for her niece and nephew to use each week with their homeschool studies. Realizing that other homeschoolers may need the same materials, Guide to Geekdom™ was started. Pamela has a BA in Technical Journalism and has worked in the computer industry for over 10 years. She recently left corporate America when her son was born. Where did the name, Guide to Geekdom™, come from? When Pamela began writing these workbooks, she asked her sister what she wanted the kids to learn. Her sister’s response: “I want them to be a geek like you and your husband”.
