In 1999, I started writing Guide to Geekdom™, Pamela Bates, began writing lessons after searching for a computer curriculum that her sister could use in homeschooling.
Through the years, my writing and travelling has come to a complete halt for a plethora of reasons. However, I continue to work with great students and develop new lessons (just can't find the time to write more books).
My goal with changing the web site, it to provide a resource for teachers and homeschooling parents to easily find resources to add technology EASILY to everyday lessons.
This will also be a great exercise for me to organize all of my resources I have be collecting and I saved over several computers and notebooks - I can find what I'm looking for as well!
Currently, I
teach Computer Science to 7th to 12th grade students. This has been
my wonderful job for nine years! I have a BA in Technical
Journalism and worked in the computer industry for over 10 years.
When my son was born, I left corporate America and started writing
books.
Where did the name,
Guide to Geekdom™, come from?
When I began writing
workbooks, I asked my sister what she wanted the kids to learn. My
sister said, “I want them to be a geek like you and your husband”.
Hence the name Guide to Geekdom™.
